Résumé
The
British Columbia Bareboat
Charter Association
(BCBCA) was formed in
December, 1992. In addition
to providing a professional
chartering standards
higher than those followed
by non-members or Canadian
Coast Guard Operator
Proficiency regulations,
the BCBCA also requires
its members to follow
high ethical standards
that include truth in
advertising and prompt
refunds of security
deposits.
The BCBCA extends
beyond helping members
with day to day practices
– communication
amongst each other on
a regular basis to discuss
industry-wide regulations
that affect the charter
industry benefits clients
who is provided additional
assurance that their
vacation – or
their boat in charter
– is in good hands.
The purposes
of the BCBCA are:
1) To promote growth
of the bareboat yacht
charter industry, the
purposes of which are
primarily cruising charters
and courses.
2) To establish and
maintain high standards
of operation for all
member charter companies.
3) To act with a co-operative
voice on behalf of the
industry in its representation
to Government.
4) To bring about industry
co-operation between
charter companies, boat
builders and Government.
5) To arrange integrated
advertising programs
sponsored jointly by
Government and members.
6) To improve business
management proficiency
in member companies.
7) To collect and disseminate
marketing and performance
data amongst member
companies.
All members
of the BCBCA must:
BCBCA Members attempt
to maintain the highest
ethical business standards.

to ensure that their
clients are safe and
in good hands while
on their vacation. To
help accomplish this,
the standard
résumé
(PDF) used by members
is much more detailed
than a typical charter
company and even extends
beyond the requirements
of the Operator Proficiency
program implemented
by the Canadian Coast
Guard.
