Learn to Boat
If you are new to boating, you may want to consider taking a boating course before deciding on a boat purchase. Once you know the basics, you will have a better idea of the type of boat that will suit you and your lifestyle. There are many different courses that a first time boater can take to develop their on-the-water skills and knowledge.
Office of Boating Safety (OBS)
Part of the Canadian Coast Guard, the Office of Boating Safety is responsible for the regulatory, enforcement and technical services that apply to recreational vessels. The organization actively promotes boating safety through its prevention program and publications such as the Safe Boating Guide which provides information on current regulations governing recreational boating.

ISPA maintains a continuous dialogue with marine safety agencies to ensure the course curriculum is continually updated and pleasure boat operators are well represented.
Canadian Safe Boating Council (CSBC)
