Membership Benefits

BC Marine Trades Association works to keep members informed on issues facing the industry and provide special association membership benefits such as substantial discounts for rental of space at MTA-sponsored trade shows; discounts on merchant rates for charge cards; access to group insurance rates and industry newsletters; and 'members alert' bulletins.

  1. Vancouver International Boat Show Discount A preferred exhibitor rate on leased space at one of Canada's longest running and most successful shows. Discounts are more than the price of membership*. *Excluding Associate Membership

  2. Visa/MasterCard Merchant Deposit Discounts BCMTA has secured some of the most competitive rates for merchant deposits – 1.85% for both Visa and Mastercard and 12¢ for Interac. In addition to great rates and low fees, Paymentech will also waive the $50 application fee and offers competitive point-of-sale terminal pricing from $25.95.

  3. Employee Benefits Program In an agreement with Christy Insurance each participating member company is able to tailor its own employee benefit package to their own needs – life, disability, extended health, dental and so on are available. Attractive insurance rates are made possible by the combined power of all members of the Marine Trades Association across Canada. Those who are claims free for a year under the program are eligible for a 10% discount on their renewal premium.

  4. Esso Business Plus Card The MTA has negotiated a 2.0 cent per litre discount for all members through the Esso Business Plus Card (based on a minimum volume per customer). Esso offers service at over 2,500 service stations and marine outlets in Canada, no user fees and detailed monthly billing which calculates your GST for you.

  5. Avis Car Rental Discount MTA members receive regular discounts from Avis for car rentals throughout North America. Special discounts are also made available during key travel times (e.g., Vancouver International Boat Show).

  6. NEBS Forms Discount MTA members receive regular discounts on NEBS products and services.

  7. Hotel Discounts BCMTA members can register at the Rosedale on Robson, Sandman Hotel or Westin Grand during the Vancouver International Boat Show.

  8. Medallion Healthy Homes -- Ozone Treatment BCMTA members receive a 20% discount on the "Ozone Shock Treatment" -- a process that can decontaminate an indoor environment in hours.

  9. Access to BCMTA’s Members Only Section on www.bcmta.com. BCMTA’s Members Only Section provides members with additional resources, such as Government Relations reports, Job Postings access and relevant research focusing on the recreational marine industry.

    Communications – through the annual conference, newsletters and e-mail updates, the BCMTA’s goal is to ensure that members share information important to the effective operation of their businesses.

    Government Relations – working with the various sector groups, we represent the concerns of the recreational marine industry with federal, provincial and municipal governments. We monitor proposed new regulations, fund studies and surveys and provide input on issues as diverse as GST and holding tanks.

    Boating Promotion – We actively seek opportunities that will promote the recreational marine industry in B.C. Marketing strategies are developed to increase the visibility of recreational marine tourism (e.g., the MTA co-op booth at international boat shows) and boating (e.g., national and regional print and television boating promotion campaigns).
